Zamfara college gets FM radio station

Governor Dauda Lawal approved the establishment of a FM Radio station at Zamfara State College of Art and Science, Gusau.

The Head of the Mass Communication Department (HOD) of the college, Suleiman Umar Dansadau, described Governor Lawal’s effort as a golden opportunity for the students of Mass Communication and beyond.

Mr Dansadau said this initiative will definitely improve the learning skills of the upcoming journalists for proper professionalism in practice.

“We sincerely thank His Excellency, Executive Governor Dr Dauda Lawal, for approving the sum of 13.5 million naira for the purchase of ZACAS FM transmission equipment and registration with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to obtain a broadcasting license for the institution,” he said.

The HOD said Governor Lawal’s intervention is historic and will enable the college to establish a functional campus radio station that will serve as a practical training ground for Mass Communication students.

“We do not doubt that the remaining studio equipment, including the TV studio, Photography, Public Relations, and News editing Lab/Studio, will soon follow suit,” he said.
