The Chakfem Chiefdom in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State was attacked by armed Fulani terrorists, resulting in the deaths of 15 people and displacing over 3,000 residents. The attackers, suspected to be Fulani militants, targeted seven villages, burning homes, looting farm produce, and rustling animals. The paramount ruler's residence and official vehicle were also destroyed.

Barr. Simon Barry, a community leader, confirmed the incident to Sawabiyanews on WhatsApp, urging the government and security forces to take immediate action to stop the ongoing massacre. This attack is not an isolated incident, with the community having faced similar attacks in the past, resulting in loss of life and property.

The National President of Mwaghavul Development Association, Bulus Dabit, corroborated the incident, stating that the attack occurred on Monday evening when most villagers were asleep. He lamented the difficulty security operatives faced in accessing the remote villages, calling on the government to deploy more security personnel to contain the escalating violence.

The Plateau Youth Council strongly condemned the attack, labeling it a "barbaric act" and "genocide," and demanded justice and accountability for the victims and their families. Amnesty International criticized the Nigerian government for failing to protect citizens from these attacks, warning that continued inaction would lead to more lives lost and livelihoods destroyed.

In contrast, the Presidency commended National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for his performance over the past 25 months, describing it as a turning point in Nigeria's fight against terrorism and banditry. Ribadu's strategy combines military, political, and socio-economic initiatives, emphasizing cross-border cooperation, youth empowerment, and local institution reinforcement.
