Sanusi accuses Lagos APC Chairman of bias over Ojokoro supervisory councillors list

Mobolaji Sanusi, a former Managing Director of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency, LASAA, has accused Cornelius Ojelabi, chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of exhibiting bias in the management of party affairs in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, LCDA.

Sanusi also called for the withdrawal of the recently released list of supervisory councillors for the council.

In a letter dated March 4, the former LASAA boss described the list for Ojokoro LCDA as non-inclusive, stating that it failed to reflect the spirit of fairness and balance earlier promised by the party’s state leadership.

While congratulating Ojelabi on his re-election as Lagos APC chairman, Sanusi expressed disappointment over what he described as the handling of party matters in Ojokoro under his leadership, which he said had been “uninspiring and condemnable.”

He alleged that the supervisory councillors’ list released for the council was skewed and did not adequately accommodate the interests of various stakeholders within the party in the area.

“Now that the list of supervisory councillors has been released, the names included for Ojokoro do not demonstrate the inclusiveness or balanced representation that you earlier assured,” Sanusi said.

“The list appears clearly one-sided and seems to confirm public perceptions that your leadership tends to favour members of a particular group over others.

“I therefore urge you to withdraw the Ojokoro list and make the necessary adjustments so that it truly reflects the inclusiveness you promised. Members of the APC in Ojokoro regard you as a chairman for all, not for a select group within the party.”

Sanusi further stated that the development contradicts assurances allegedly given by Ojelabi following the controversial local government primaries conducted last year.

According to him, the APC chairman had pledged that aggrieved stakeholders would be accommodated in order to promote inclusiveness within the party structure.

The former LASAA chief also claimed that he emerged victorious in the APC chairmanship primaries in Ojokoro but was eventually denied the ticket, adding that he accepted the outcome in the interest of party unity and peace.

However, he noted that the release of the supervisory councillors’ list has renewed concerns among party members that the state leadership may be favouring a particular political bloc within the party.

Sanusi also criticised the handling of a petition submitted by some Ojokoro party members during the recently concluded APC congress. He alleged that the state leadership dismissed the petition on the grounds that it was statute-barred.

He further claimed that the list used during the congress contained the names of individuals who had already served two or three terms in ward or local government executive positions, which he said contradicts the party’s internal rules.

Sanusi therefore urged the Lagos APC chairman to withdraw the supervisory councillors’ list for Ojokoro LCDA and replace it with one that reflects broader representation among stakeholders in the council chapter of the party.

According to him, such a move would help rebuild trust among party members and prevent further divisions within the Ojokoro APC structure.
