Nasarawa Accountant General resigns to pursue 2027 governorship ambition

Nasarawa State Accountant General, Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed, has resigned from Governor Abdulahi Sule’s administration to pursue his political ambition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Dr. Muhammed made the announcement during a political rally held in his honour in Lafia, the state capital. The rally, organized by stakeholders, aimed to encourage him to contest for the governorship seat.

His resignation follows a directive from Governor Sule asking all political appointees seeking elective positions to step down and focus on their political ambitions.

Speaking at the rally, Dr. Muhammed, a former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, said his supporters had been urging him for the past three years to contest for governor.

“For your sake, and for the people of Nasarawa State who have seen my resourcefulness, capacity, and leadership, I have decided to resign from my position as Accountant General,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for the opportunity to serve in his administration, describing him as “the best governor Nasarawa State has ever had” and acknowledging the guidance he received under his leadership.

Dr. Muhammed also affirmed his commitment to contesting the 2027 governorship election, pledging to work with stakeholders across the state’s 13 local government areas.

“I have accepted your call and I am offering myself to contest. By God’s grace and with your support, I will give my best in the 2027 elections,” he stated.
