FG elevates 19 Foreign Service Officers to Ambassadors-in-Situ

The Federal Government has invested nineteen officers of the Nigerian Foreign Service as Ambassadors-in-Situ, marking a significant milestone in their careers.

In a press statement on Monday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa said the investiture recognizes the officers’ dedication, excellence, and contributions to advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.

The rank of Ambassador carries heightened responsibilities to uphold Nigeria’s international image and strengthen the professionalism of the diplomatic service.

The nineteen officers earned the title of Ambassador-in-Situ following their promotion to the rank of Deputy Director in the Federal Civil Service.

Speaking on behalf of the honourees, Ambassador Suleiman Mohammed Ousman expressed gratitude to the Ministry and the Federal Government, pledging that the newly invested ambassadors would continue to serve with integrity, professionalism, and commitment to national interests.

In his closing remarks, Permanent Secretary Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, PhD, congratulated the officers, urging them to maintain the highest standards of diplomacy. He noted that their elevation comes at a critical time for Nigeria’s engagement with the international community.

The investiture ceremony was presided over by the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, and attended by senior government officials, public office holders, and distinguished guests.
