NAPTIP launches probe into schoolgirl abuse in Benue
By Favour Ulebor, Abuja
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has ordered its Benue State Command to investigate an incident of schoolgirl abuse at Seat of Wisdom Secondary School in Aliade, Benue State.
In a statement on Monday via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the agency said the command had been instructed to work closely with relevant state authorities to ensure swift and appropriate action.
The directive follows a video circulating on social media showing at least five female students in uniform physically assaulting and stripping another girl near a mud-walled building. The footage depicts the victim struggling to cover herself while the attackers laughed and recorded the incident.
NAPTIP described the incident as “a sad development” and confirmed that the case had been forwarded to the Benue State Command for immediate action in collaboration with other relevant state agencies.
