Bandits have killed 13 people and abducted several others during an attack on a wedding ceremony in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred late Sunday night, around 11:47 p.m., and has heightened concerns over the security situation in rural communities across the state.

According to residents, the assailants arrived in large numbers, heavily armed, and opened fire on guests, creating chaos at the event. Many victims sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to the General Hospital in Kagarko, while those in critical condition were referred to facilities in Kaduna for advanced treatment.

A community leader said the attackers operated for nearly an hour and also looted shops, taking food items, provisions, and medical supplies.

The victims have since been buried, and efforts to contact the abductors have not yet succeeded.

A police source in Kagarko confirmed the attack and said security agencies are working to determine the exact number of kidnapped individuals. DSP Hassan Mansur, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, assured that a detailed report would be released following preliminary investigations.
