BACCIMA urges FG to prioritise citizens’ welfare in new tax regime

The Bauchi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, BACCIMA, has called on the Federal Government to ensure that its proposed tax reforms are people-centred and do not impose additional hardship on Nigerians.

Speaking with journalists, the President of BACCIMA, Alh. Aminu Mohammed Danmalikin Bauchi, expressed concern that the planned tax regime, as currently proposed, lacks a human face and could negatively impact citizens, particularly those in the northern part of the country.

Danmaliki said the chamber would engage relevant authorities to safeguard the interests of the public against any government policy that may adversely affect livelihoods.

“We will go to every length to ensure that the public is protected,” he said, urging the Federal Government to review the proposed reforms and take into account the views of key stakeholders.

He also spoke on the recent economic and investment summit organised by the Bauchi State Government, noting that BACCIMA remains committed to contributing meaningful input on economic issues as a partner in development.

According to him, the chamber is working to address internal challenges and limitations while seeking strategic collaborations to enhance its sustainability and effectiveness.

Danmaliki added that BACCIMA is strengthening its partnership with the state government to improve collaboration between the public and private sectors.
