In today’s Nigerian newspapers review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with Nigerian Army Colonel, Mohammed Ma’aji, who is accused of involvement in an alleged plot to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu, saying his actions were driven by patriotism and frustration over what he described as worsening conditions in the country.
Another headline features supporters of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid under the aegis of the Renewed Hope Project 2027 dismissing the planned alliance among opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Donald Duke and other political actors, describing the move as no threat to the All Progressives Congress.
Vanguard also reports that the Methodist Church Nigeria has called on the Federal Government to take more decisive measures to tackle worsening insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, corruption and declining living standards, warning that increased government revenues and allocations have yet to translate into meaningful improvements in the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

Lastly, The Nation reports that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, dismissed claims that he was among those lobbying to be the Director-General (DG) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) as untrue.
