Controversial singer Portable has fired back at celebrity bartender Cubana Chief Priest, dismissing his recent political warning to President Bola Tinubu.
The controversy began on Thursday when Cubana Chief Priest warned that the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), would cripple Tinubu’s political prospects in the south-east.
Kanu was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday after being convicted on seven counts of terrorism, a verdict that has ignited widespread reactions.
In a social media post on Friday, Cubana argued that the president “will never get up to 10,000 votes” in the region during the 2027 election.
Reacting in a now-viral video, Portable slammed Cubana for what he called his “hypocrisy”, accusing the socialite of using his access to the president for “personal gain and contracts” instead of advocating for Kanu’s release.
“When you went to President Bola Tinubu’s office, you went to fight for your own self-interest. You didn’t remember to ask him to release your brother, Nnamdi Kanu,” Portable said.
He also dismissed Cubana’s electoral prediction, insisting that the south-east would support Tinubu.
“You fought for what you wanted first, and now you are saying Tinubu won’t get votes from the South East? You’re joking. They will use money to get votes from your people, and your people will take the money,” he said.
“You went to take pictures with the president, collected money, but forgot your brother who was in jail. Did you collect money and a contract or not? Who told you he won’t get votes? Tinubu will be reelected.”
