Port Harcourt—The Federal Government has been urged to set deliberate goals for national development even as the country begins a countdown to another round of general elections in 2027.

Speaking at a book launch in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, weekend, Mrs. Uche Etiaba, a public analyst said it was important that the political class thinks out of the box by consciously setting achievable goals that would enhance the nations greatness and unparalleled development in Africa.

“Nations do not rise by chance but by goals,” she said, adding that until the nation set target that it can achieve, Nigeria would continue to crawl in the comity of nations.

Etiaba, who was a guest speaker at the book launch entitled “Transforming Nations A-Z of Goal Setting: Discovering Winning Nuggets” by Ibeleogute Emmanuel, called for a paradigm shift among the political class to achieve greatness for the country.

She pointed out that unless Nigeria begins to build systems that align with goals of national development, the country will not make progress, noting “Clarity creates movement and those nations that developed did so through clear set goals and intentional drive.”

Citing Singapore and Rwanda as examples, Etiaba called on the country leadership to align system with vision and goals.

The public analyst lauded the author of the book which she described as a masterpiece and urged the nation’s political leaders and the general public to utilise the opportunity presented in the book and apply its principles accordingly.

The book reviewer, Kore Oladimeji said the 26-chapter book was written in simple prose that resonates nuggets to arm readers with ability to exploit opportunities around them.

Oladimeji praised the author for the layout of the book that makes it ready to follow every idea expressed.
