‘Every Nigerian life is equally precious’ — Sultan seeks release of abducted Borno pupils

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has welcomed the rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Oyo State, urging the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the release of schoolchildren recently abducted in Borno State.

The Sultan made the call in a statement issued on Friday through his media team.

He expressed gratitude for the safe rescue of the Oyo pupils and teachers after 56 days in captivity and commended the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, and security and intelligence agencies for their coordinated efforts.

According to the Sultan, the successful operation should serve as renewed hope in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity while underscoring the need for sustained collaboration among governments, security agencies and citizens.

He appealed to the Federal Government, the Borno State Government and relevant security agencies to demonstrate the same commitment in securing the release of the abducted Borno schoolchildren.

“Every Nigerian life is equally precious and deserving of protection,” the Sultan said.

He also called on Nigerians to reject all forms of criminality, including terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and ritual killings, stressing that no religion condones violence or criminal acts.

The Sultan urged religious leaders and citizens to work together in exposing criminal elements within their communities, saying collective responsibility remained essential to restoring lasting peace and security across the country.

He further prayed for the full recovery of the rescued Oyo pupils and teachers and urged security agencies to sustain efforts until all abducted Nigerians regain their freedom.
