World Cup: They’ve chance – Obi Mikel predicts team to reach final between France, Spain
Former Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has backed Spain to reach the final of the 2026 World Cup ahead of France.
The former Nigerian international believes Spain can trouble France, adding that they have a chance to make it to the World Cup final.
Obi Mikel spoke on Fox Sports after Spain eliminated Belgium from the quarter-final of the World Cup encounter played on Friday.
“The two teams that a lot of people expect to go on and win this title. Obviously, France has been in the finals twice in a row. Kylian Mbappe looking to make it a hat-trick of finals,” Obi Mikel said.
“Spain has not been to the final of the World Cup since they won it in 2010. Two really good teams that are playing well. How much can Spain take the ball away from France?
“Take the ball away from France and don’t let them have it because when they have it, that is when they create chances. You see the likes of you see the likes of Mbappe, Olise.
“So if this Spain team can can be able to take that away from them, dominate the possession and if Rodri can dictate the game as he does. I think this Spanish team might have the opportunity to go on to get to the final again.
“We talked about France being the favourite. If any team is going to be able to trouble them, I think it could be this [Spain] team.
“I think this team might have the chance of beating this France team.”
