2 children drown in well in Kano – Fire Service confirms
A six-year-old boy, Ahmad Abdurashid, has drowned in a well at Dandishe Tsamiyar Goodluck area of Dala Local Government Area, Kano State.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Wednesday in Kano.
Abdullahi said the incident occurred on Wednesday morning.
According to him, we received an emergency call from Abubakar Sadiq at about 10:02 a.m that a boy has drowned in a well and we immediately sent our rescue team to the scene.
He said the boy was brought out of the well dead and was handed over to one Abdulrashid, who happened to be the victims father of Dandishe quarter.
The Fire Service spokesman said that the cause of the incident was under investigation.
The spokesman advised residents to cover their wells properly and desist from digging open wells along roadsides to prevent similar tragedies, especially in rural communities.
In another development, a girl of about eight years old drowned in a well on Tuesday morning in Kashirmo Village by Sarkakiya in Dawakin, Tofa Local Government Area of Kano state.
”We received an emergency call from Kabiru Abdullahi at about 08:53a.m that a girl fell into a well at about 10:02 a.m.
“We immediately sent our rescue team to the scene,” he said.
He said with God’s intervention, our rescue team brought her out of the well, but was later confirmed dead.
Abdullahi said the victim was handed over to ward head of Kashirmo Village, Abdullahi Garba.
