19-year-old man fatally stabs NSCDC officer in Ondo

A personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ondo State has died after being stabbed by a 19-year-old man in Oke-Ala community, Oba-Ile, Akure North Local Government Area.

According to community sources, the young man—reported to have been experiencing mental health challenges—became violent at home, prompting his mother to seek assistance from security personnel.

Witnesses said the situation escalated when the officers attempted to restrain him to prevent further disturbance. In the struggle, the teenager allegedly overpowered one of the officers, took a knife from him, and stabbed him multiple times.

“The boy suddenly became violent. He struggled with the officer, took his knife and stabbed him several times,” a resident said.

The injured officer was rushed to the hospital but later died due to the severity of his injuries.

Confirming the incident, NSCDC spokesperson in Ondo State, DSC Daniel Aidamenbor, said the officers were attempting to take the young man to the state psychiatric hospital for treatment when the attack occurred. He described it as a tragic event that happened while the officers were trying to safeguard both the individual and the community.

Similarly, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the officer’s death, noting that he passed away while receiving treatment.
