World Cup 2026: Ancelotti responds when asked why he benched Endrick against Morocco

Brazil manager, Carlo Ancelotti has responded to comments about his decision to leave Real Madrid star Endrick on the bench for Brazil’s FIFA World Cup opener against Morocco.

Ancelotti opted to bench Endrick throughout the duration of the encounter as Brazil drew 1-1 against Morocco at MetLife Stadium.

The Italian featured Brentford striker Igor Thiago to lead the attack line for Brazil against the North Africans.

The goals were scored by Ismael Saibari and Vinicius Junior.

Asked why he benched Endrick, who did well for Lyon on loan last season, Ancelotti responded (via Fabrizio Romano), “I am not gonna comment on individual players. I am here to talk about the team.”

Endrick registered 12 goal contributions in 16 Ligue 1 games for Lyon.

The 19-year-old will now hope to get some minutes when Brazil face Haiti in their next game next weekend.
