Big Brother Naija Lockdown winner, Olamilekan Agbelesebioba, popularly known as Laycon, has revealed that he could have lost his mother if he had not emerged victorious in the reality show in 2020.

In a recent interview on the Echo Room podcast, Laycon said his mother was ill and was close to death by the time he left to participate in the reality TV show.

He added that his victory on the show was crucial in raising funds for his mother’s medical treatment and helped save his mother’s life, as it positively changed the course of life for his entire family.

“Winning BBNaija saved my mother’s life,” he said. “When I was in the house, my mom was ill. By the time I came out, my mom was close to death. I’m saying it categorically now, if I did not win that show, if I had gone and come out second, my mom would be dead now.”

Laycon also spoke about his entry into film after the show, saying that producers approached him for roles because of the prominence the reality show gave him, not because they had seen him act.

“Before I went to film school, before I went back to university, so many movie producers approached me, and I was like, oh, they told me how I did great in the house, they want me on this film, they want me on this project,” he said.

Laycon added that movie producers approached him, not because he could act, but because they wanted to share in his popularity.
