Wike’s Rainbow Coalition in closed door to decide Gov Fubara’s successor
Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is currently meeting with some key members of the Rainbow Coalition to decide the next governor of Rivers State.
DAILY POST gathered that political bigwigs drawn from the coalition’s cross-party ranks, including allies from the All Progressives Congress, APC, factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP amongst others are meeting behind a closed-door in Port Harcourt.
According to insiders, the stakeholders are discussing a possible consensus candidate to fly the coalition’s flag which is likely to come from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The Rainbow Coalition is the broad political platform founded by the former governor of Rivers State to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and decide the next leadership of the state.
The Minister, during a public event in Port Harcourt, said there was no final decision on the next Rivers Governor yet.
Wike’s comment followed a widespread speculation that the APC governorship candidate, Ogundu Kingsley Chinda was his anointed candidate.
The incumbent governor, Siminalayi Fubara had dropped out of the race and is expected to be succeeded by a member of the coalition.
