‘Why my homecoming convoy was long’ – Fire Service Controller-General

The Controller-General, Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi, has explained why the convoy of his homecoming ceremony was very long. He said the presence of Deputy Controllers-General, DCGs; Assistant Controllers-General, ACGs, and other senior officers of the Service made it so.

Recall that in a post on X, the agency said Adeyemi’s visit included courtesy calls and a grand reception, noting that he “returns home to Kogi, receives royal blessings, as stakeholders commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and call for stronger fire safety.”
However, the post, which was later taken down, drew reactions due to the large number of vehicles, motorbikes, and crowd involved.
Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, the Fire Service said it “wishes to clarify concerns regarding the perceived long convoy associated with the Controller General.”
The statement, signed by P. O. Abraham, National PRO/ Head, Corporate Services, noted that “For the avoidance of doubt, the Controller General travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and essential security support.
“The additional vehicles seen were those of Deputy Controllers General (DCGs), Assistant Controllers General (ACGs), and other senior officers of the Service who attended the event.
“Their presence formed part of the Service’s management team, and the decision for them to attend alongside the Controller General was deliberate, ensuring adequate coordination and security coverage for all senior officers at the high-profile gathering.
“The Federal Fire Service remains committed to transparency, professionalism, and responsible public engagement. It reassures Nigerians that its operations and official movements are always guided by necessity, safety considerations, and best practices.
“The Controller General once again expresses his sincere gratitude to the Bunu Progressive Forum and the entire Kabba community for the honour and warm reception.”
