Nigerian rapper Dremo has spoken candidly about his decision to part ways with Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), revealing that unmet expectations and structural issues within the label played a major role in his exit.

In a recent interview with Echo Room, the rapper described his time at the label as more of a platform than a fully supportive system, stating that he did not receive the level of backing he had hoped for.

According to him, the label’s operational focus was heavily tilted toward its founder, Davido, leaving other artistes to navigate their growth with limited support.

Dremo also pointed to a lack of synergy among artistes signed to the label, noting that collaboration was minimal despite the presence of multiple talents. He referenced his inability to work with fellow rapper Idowest during their time together, explaining that everyone was focused on sustaining their individual careers rather than building a collective sound.

“I didn’t get what I wanted from the label,” he said, adding that the experience ultimately shaped his outlook on the industry.

As a result, he has chosen to remain independent, prioritising creative control and personal direction over affiliation with a structured record label.

Since leaving DMW, Dremo has continued to evolve artistically, recently drawing attention with his Man-to-Man releases—a series of rap freestyles and lyrical showcases that have reignited conversations around his skill and consistency.
