WAFCON: We’re hurt – Kanu makes demand ahead of Zambia clash
Super Falcons forward, Uchenna Kanu, has called on fans of the team to support Justine Madugu’s side as they prepare to face Zambia in tonight’s CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, tie.
According to Kanu, the Falcons players and the fans are all hurt following Nigeria’s WAFCON 3-2 defeat to Malawi in their opener a few days ago.
Speaking to Femi Pereira in Morocco, Kanu, who plays her club football for Mexican side Cruz Azul, said, “Playing Zambia is another game, another challenge, another opportunity to be ourselves on the field. It doesn’t matter whether they lost or didn’t; we are focusing on getting the points.
“About the fans, we all are hurting, but we’re working on the things that didn’t work out in the last game. So we need all the support we can get.
“We know what is at stake and how Nigerians feel about the loss to Malawi.
“The whole point is that we take it one game at a time. We are ready and will make Nigerians proud.”
