Village Boys Movement intensifies pressure on ADC to cede presidential ticket to Obi

The Village Boys Movement, VBM, has stepped up calls on the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to hand over its presidential ticket to Mr. Peter Obi, following a coordinated nationwide mobilisation across several states.

The group, weekend, staged what it described as a “2 Million Man March and ADC Registration Drive,” with activities held simultaneously in Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Ebonyi, Plateau, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Kogi and Edo states.

Organisers of the exercise said the turnout underscored a growing grassroots momentum and increasing demand for political change ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued after the event, the Village Headmaster of the movement, Mr. Tochukwu Ezeoke, said the march was designed to serve a dual purpose of demonstrating public support for Obi while also driving mass membership registration into the ADC.

According to him, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy aimed at building a structured and nationally coordinated political base capable of influencing future electoral outcomes.

Ezeoke explained that the phased rollout of the mobilisation was deliberate, noting that it is intended to sustain engagement and maintain momentum across different regions in the weeks ahead.

He said: “This is not just a march; it is a strategic effort to convert widespread public sentiment into a measurable and organised political force.”

The movement maintained that the demand for credible leadership in the country has reached a critical stage, with citizens becoming increasingly determined to shape Nigeria’s democratic trajectory.

VBM also drew attention to ongoing political realignments and conversations among major stakeholders, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), as well as the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum.

It noted that calls for a Southern presidency were gaining traction within these blocs.

The group, therefore, urged the ADC to act in line with what it described as the popular will by granting Obi its presidential ticket without delay.

Reaffirming its long-term objective, VBM said it would continue mobilising Nigerians across both rural and urban communities to drive what it termed a “decisive political shift” in 2027.

It added that Saturday’s march marked the beginning of a coordinated national awakening, stressing that “the era of recycled leadership must give way to a new order.”
