Troops neutralise two terrorists in Zamfara, recover motorcycles
Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered two motorcycles during a fighting patrol in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The development was disclosed in a report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security analyst covering the Lake Chad region.
According to the report, the operation was carried out at about 2:00pm on July 10, 2026 by troops of the 1 Brigade as part of ongoing operations against suspected terrorist groups in the state.
Makama reported that the troops conducted a fighting patrol to Tungar Magaji and Gidan Dawa villages, where they encountered the suspected terrorists.
“The troops engaged the suspects in a gun battle, neutralising two of them during the encounter,” the report stated.
The report added that troops recovered two motorcycles believed to have been used by the suspected terrorists during the operation.
Makama said the operation was part of ongoing military efforts to restrict the movement of suspected terrorist groups across Zamfara State.
