Troops of the Joint Task Force North West under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have reportedly carried out a major air and ground offensive against the camps of some notorious bandit leaders in Zamfara State.

The development was contained in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst, Bakatsine.

According to the post, the operation targeted the camps of notorious bandit leaders, Najaja, Dogo Gide, Nasanda and Buba Oris in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas of the state.

Bakatsine said the operation followed intelligence reports indicating that hundreds of armed fighters had gathered along the Bayarzaki riverline.

He explained that the military first launched precision airstrikes on the identified locations before ground troops laid an ambush along the Gummi–Anka road to intercept the fleeing terrorists.

According to him, the troops chased the fleeing fighters to the Kombo High Ground, where a fierce gun battle reportedly took place, leaving scores of the terrorists dead.
