TCN explains reason for outage in Kaduna

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has explained that the collapse of its towers along the Kaduna State Town Line I and II in Rigasa community is the reason for outages in parts of the state, particularly Southern Kaduna.
TCN disclosed this in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, on Saturday.
According to TCN, the electricity towers collapsed due to a heavy downpour and windstorm on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
To mitigate the impact of the collapse, TCN urged Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KAEDCO, to link its 33kV Mogadishu feeder with the 33kV Abakwa feeder to enable electricity customers in Mogadishu to access a power supply.
“While inspecting the site of the incident, TCN’s linemen discovered that vandals had carted away some of the tower members, making it susceptible to collapse.
“The incident primarily affected the power supply to parts of Kaduna South, causing power interruption in some communities.
“Our engineers are already at the site of the incident, dismantling the collapsed tower members to enable them to clear the site and commence the re-erection of a new tower.
“We apologise for the inconvenience the incident has caused the affected customers in Southern Kaduna,” the statement read.
