Taraba APC faces pressure over Sambo’s unresolved primary complaints

JALINGO — Supporters of former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, have expressed concern over the alleged silence of the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on complaints arising from the party’s governorship primary.

The development has reportedly generated tension within the party, with Sambo’s supporters calling for the resolution of outstanding grievances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Rather than leaving the party or openly challenging its leadership, Sambo has remained in the APC despite the unresolved complaints, a development political observers say has increased pressure on the party leadership to address the issues.

Sources close to the former minister said his decision to remain in the party had frustrated expectations that he and his supporters would defect following the outcome of the primary.

Observers noted that Sambo’s continued membership of the APC could make it difficult for the party to dismiss his camp as disgruntled former members.

Sambo had previously dismissed speculation that he was planning to leave the APC, describing himself as one of the founding pillars of the party.

His continued presence in the party, according to political observers, has left the APC leadership with the option of addressing the grievances or risking further divisions within its ranks ahead of the general elections.

The development has also raised concerns among some party members, who warned that failure to resolve internal disputes could affect the APC’s cohesion and electoral prospects in the state.

The visit of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to Taraba has also attracted attention amid the development.

Yilwatda, who visited the state recently to celebrate his birthday and engage party stakeholders, arrived as the party intensified preparations for the forthcoming elections.

However, the APC said it was working to resolve internal differences and present a united front.

The state Publicity Secretary of the party, Aaron Artimas, said the leadership was committed to reconciliation and had inaugurated committees across the three senatorial zones to address grievances among members.

Artimas, who spoke on Monday, urged aggrieved members to embrace dialogue and work with the party leadership to strengthen its chances in the forthcoming elections.

He said the objective was to ensure that the APC approached the elections as a united family.
