Actress and podcaster Biola Adebayo has been embroiled in controversy after her interview with Baba Ijesha sparked outrage online.
The interview, where Baba Ijesha shared his side of the story regarding his sexual assault conviction, led to criticisms and condemnation, with Iyabo Ojo threatening fresh legal action.
Facing backlash, Adebayo removed the content and apologized, stating that she didn’t intend to exonerate Baba Ijesha or promote child abuse.
In a video, she said, “I apologize to everyone. I’m sorry, please forgive me. I will never support a rapist or pedophile. I thought I was just interviewing him. My platform is for the good and the bad, for both saints and sinners.”
Adebayo revealed she’s a rape victim, emphasizing that she’s a mother and a Christian. She acknowledged Baba Ijesha’s past support for her career and explained her approach to the interview.
“I brought Seun Agbegbe on the show when he was released from prison. I thought he’d apologize but he didn’t. It’s not my place to insist.”
The actress acknowledged her imperfections, saying, “I’m still learning the job, I’m not perfect nor a saint. I’ve tried to bring joy to people using this platform” .
Speaking further, Adebayo said she’s not out to justify anything, but ask for forgiveness.
“I am not a controversial person, but a peaceful soul,” she added.
