By Henry Umoru, Abuja
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Sani Musa, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the long-awaited reconstruction of the Suleja–Minna Road, describing the decision as a landmark intervention and a demonstration of responsive leadership.
Musa, who represents Niger East Senatorial District in the Senate, said the approval reflects the President’s visionary leadership and commitment to addressing the infrastructural needs of Nigerians.
In a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, the lawmaker said the road is a critical federal highway of significant economic and strategic importance to Niger State and the country at large.
According to him, the approval underscores the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that the Suleja–Minna Road serves as a vital gateway linking the Federal Capital Territory to several parts of the North-Central and northern regions of the country.
“Over the years, the condition of the road has posed serious challenges to motorists, commuters, traders and even security operations. With this decisive approval by Mr. President, a new chapter of safety, economic growth and regional integration is set to unfold,” Musa said.
He added that President Tinubu has continued to demonstrate commitment to rebuilding critical infrastructure across the country as part of efforts to promote national development and economic revitalisation.
The senator also commended the Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, for what he described as relentless advocacy and strategic engagement that contributed to the realisation of the project.
Musa said the governor’s proactive leadership, consistent engagement with the federal government and dedication to infrastructural renewal in the state played a significant role in securing the approval.
He noted that the collaboration between the federal and state governments reflects a shared vision for development and a strong partnership aimed at delivering tangible benefits to the people.
According to him, the reconstruction of the Suleja–Minna Road is expected to ease transportation challenges, reduce travel time, boost commercial activities, enhance security mobility and create employment opportunities for host communities.
He added that the project would also strengthen connectivity between Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory, thereby promoting trade and investment.
Musa reassured residents of Niger East Senatorial District of his continued commitment to advocating projects that will improve their welfare and pledged sustained collaboration with both the federal and state governments to ensure more development reaches grassroots communities.
