Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a motorcycle rider, identified as Godonu Lowe, for allegedly killing his wife and attempting to transport her body out of their community in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.

Lowe was intercepted during a stop-and-search operation on Wednesday, after officers noticed a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle.

Spokesperson for the Command, Omolola Odutola, said in a statement on Thursday that the arrest was made at about 1:05 p.m. following credible information received by the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro.

According to the statement, the woman’s body was discovered inside the sack and was later identified as Lowe’s wife. Odutola said the corpse had visible injuries, including bleeding around the neck, and a blood-stained cutlass was recovered at the scene.

“Acting swiftly, police operatives intercepted the suspect and untied a sack found on the motorcycle. The content was discovered to be the corpse of an adult female, later confirmed to be his wife,” the statement said.

The suspect is currently in custody, while the remains of the victim have been deposited at the State Morgue in Ilaro for preservation and autopsy.

Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the anonymous informant whose report led to the arrest and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies. He noted that prompt reporting of suspicious activity can help prevent crime and protect lives.
