PDP crisis: Akpoti-Uduaghan urges calm, dismisses claims about Anyanwu

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has urged aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to resolve internal disputes amicably, following recent judicial pronouncements.

Reacting to controversy surrounding the latest Supreme Court Judgement, she cautioned against misinformation, saying the apex court’s ruling was limited in scope, invalidating only the Ibadan Convention.

“The Supreme Court judgment only invalidated the Ibadan Convention. Beware of propaganda,” she said, clarifying that issues relating to the suspension of PDP National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu were not part of the ruling.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who spoke through her media aide, Sam Idoko, on Friday, noted that Anyanwu’s suspension lapsed on December 1, 2025, and he was subsequently appointed to a caretaker committee.

She urged unity, saying, “I sincerely wish that all aggrieved members of our PDP family resolve matters amicably.”

The senator expressed confidence in the PDP’s prospects, saying, “The PDP will field candidates in the 2027 general elections, and we shall definitely win a good number of seats.”

Amid ongoing tensions, the senator struck a conciliatory tone, urging unity across factions. “I sincerely wish that all aggrieved members of our PDP family resolve matters amicably,” she said, while extending goodwill to other political parties ahead of the 2027 general.
