No fewer than 300 widows and elderly persons in Osun State on Thursday received a total of ₦15 million from Mr. Femi Oyetola, son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, as part of activities marking his birthday.

The beneficiaries, drawn from the 10 local government areas of Osun Central Senatorial District, each received ₦50,000 during the distribution exercise held at Ileri-Oluwa House in Osogbo.

Speaking through the former Senior Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Students’ Affairs and Social Mobilisation, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, Femi Oyetola said the gesture was aimed at supporting vulnerable members of society.

“Three hundred beneficiaries were given ₦50,000 each, amounting to ₦15 million, as part of my commitment to identifying with vulnerable people while celebrating my birthday.

“We must continue to prioritise love and care for the elderly at all times. They have always remained close to my heart. During festive periods, I also distribute food packages to vulnerable households to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship,” he said.

He explained that the outreach was organised in partnership with the Ileri-Oluwa Initiative, which he said has made significant contributions to the welfare of residents of Osun State.

Speaking on the forthcoming governorship election, Oyetola expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would run an inclusive administration if elected.

“Our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, will be gender-sensitive when elected because we are aligning this initiative with his campaign agenda,” he said.

He urged women across the state to support and vote massively for the APC candidate in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

Earlier, the Osun State President of Widows, Mrs. Afolabi Olanrewaju, pledged to mobilise support for the APC governorship candidate to ensure his victory at the polls.
