Osun Election: Arrest Fadahunsi for inciting genocide – Gov Adeleke to IGP, DSS

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has told the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Tunji Disu, and the Department of State Services, DSS, to arrest Senator Francis Fadahunsi ‘for inciting genocide against the people of Ijesha land’ ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Adeleke was reacting to a viral video which captured Fadahunsi telling his supporters to kill members of the Accord Party.

Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo on Thursday, Governor Adeleke said: “With the viral video of a serving senator, Francis Fadahunsi, who called for the killings of Accord Party members and their leaders – in the video the senator even threatened that where they can’t get Accord Party leaders, they should kill their wives and children.

“This is now beyond politics, it’s a national security threat that requires the attention of Mr President through the Office of the National Security Adviser.

“I have raised this issue with the Inspector General of Police and demanded an investigation and arrest of Fadahunsi. The IGP has confirmed the video and has assured of immediate action.

“We ask that the police and DSS immediately arrest Senator Fadahunsi for inciting genocide against the people of Ijesha land and Osun State in general.

“This is to prove to the world that Nigeria is a state governed by the rule of law. We demand that the IGP ensure due process and fair policing by aborting all anti-people plots against the people in Osun State.”

The governor also urged the IGP to stop what he termed the illegal operations of the Intelligence Response Team, IRT, across local governments in the state.

Adeleke accused IRT officers of illegally arresting Accord Party leaders across the state.

“We request that the IGP should stop the illegal operation of IRT, a team that has been arresting leaders across the local governments for no just reason,” he added.
