Ondo: Gunmen abduct two farmers, demand N100m ransom

Two farmers have been abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Parubber community in the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government area of Ondo State.
The victims were kidnapped while working on their farms in the community before they were forcefully taken into the bush.
According to one of the farmers, Yemi Omowale, who escaped during the attack,
One of the farmers who escaped the attack, Pastor Yemi Omowale, disclosed that the attackers invaded the farm with AK-47 rifles and cutlasses.
Omowale, who runs a piggery farm, added that the kidnappers have established contact with the wife of one of the victims, demanding N100 million ransom for their release.
“We’ve reported the incident to the police and the Amotekun Corps in our area. They still call on the wife of the victims, asking her how much she has raised. We’re begging the security agencies and the government to help us rescue our brother and sister unharmed,” he said.
Reacting to the incident, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Jimoh Abayomi, said a joint security team comprising the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, local hunters and vigilante groups, have been mobilised to the scene for a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
