Nigerian youths fascinated by Burkina Faso junta’s uniform, youthfulness – Shehu Sani

Former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said Nigerian youths are merely fascinated by the youthfulness and military uniform of Burkina Faso’s junta leader, Ibrahim Traoré.

Sani made the remark in a statement posted on his verified X handle on Tuesday.

He wrote, “The ideological confusion among many of our young people is their love for Ibrahim Traoré on one hand and their support for imperialism and neocolonialism on the other.

“It looks like they don’t know what Traoré stands for or what he is fighting against. They are just fascinated by his uniform and youthfulness.”

DAILY POST reports that Ibrahim Traoré, born on March 14, 1988, is a Burkinabé military officer who has served as the interim president of Burkina Faso since 2022.

He is known for his nationalist, pan Africanist, anti Western and anti imperialist views, as well as his charismatic leadership and appeal to young people.

Traoré has also served as the second leader of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguard and Restoration, the ruling military junta in Burkina Faso, since September 2022.
