NGF condemns Plateau killings, urges end to cycle of violence

ILORIN — The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has strongly condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Plateau State, which left several people dead and others injured.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the forum described the incident as unfortunate and called for restraint among affected communities.
“We call for restraint and an immediate end to the war of attrition in Plateau or any part of our nation. A cycle of violence does us no good; it leaves people bitter and vengeful, and our communities perpetually stripped of sustainable development,” the statement read.
The NGF extended condolences to the families of the victims and the government of Plateau State, while commending Governor Caleb Muftwang for his swift response following the incident.
The forum also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.
The NGF reiterated the need for peace and unity, stressing that sustained violence undermines development and stability across affected communities.
