The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has disclosed that its newly introduced toll-free hotline received 2,843 public engagements within its first 30 days of operation as part of efforts to improve transparency and strengthen citizen participation.
The figures, covering the period from June 28 to July 29, 2026, were released by the agency’s Digital Centre, which manages the 3367 toll-free call centre.
According to LASTMA, the engagements comprised 1,047 enquiry calls, 709 commendation calls, 468 successfully resolved cases, 400 accident and vehicle breakdown reports, 163 formal complaints and 11 information requests.
The agency also recorded 45 unsuccessful calls arising from abandoned calls, network challenges and other technical issues.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the response as an indication of growing public confidence in the agency and its commitment to improving service delivery.
He said the volume of engagements reflected LASTMA’s pursuit of operational excellence, institutional integrity, administrative transparency and improved communication with residents.
Beyond the toll-free line, Bakare-Oki disclosed that the agency had established a Physical Complaint Centre at its headquarters in Oshodi to provide residents with an option for face-to-face interaction.
“The Physical Complaint Centre complements our 3367 Toll-Free Call Centre by providing members of the public who prefer face-to-face engagement with a convenient platform to report traffic-related concerns, seek clarifications and lodge complaints regarding the conduct of our officers,” he said.
The LASTMA boss assured residents that all complaints received through the various channels would be treated with seriousness and investigated in line with established administrative procedures and principles of natural justice.
He reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, extortion and unprofessional conduct among its officers.
“Every genuine complaint received through any of the agency’s reporting channels would be subjected to an impartial, transparent and exhaustive investigation, and any officer found culpable, following due process, would be sanctioned in accordance with the extant Public Service Rules and the Agency’s disciplinary framework,” Bakare-Oki said.
He noted that the toll-free line and complaint centre formed part of LASTMA’s wider reform efforts aimed at promoting accountability, rebuilding public trust and improving engagement with road users.
Bakare-Oki urged motorists, commuters, transport operators, corporate organisations and civil society groups to responsibly utilise the channels, stressing that public participation was essential to achieving safer roads and a more efficient transport system in Lagos.
