Kano police seizes over 100,000 illicit pills valued at ₦82m

The Kano State Police Command has intercepted more than 100,000 suspected illicit pills worth about ₦82 million during an operation in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Kano.

The command said the seizure was made on September 20, 2025, following credible intelligence about a vehicle suspected to be carrying cartons of intoxicants.

Police spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday, said operatives trailed the vehicle to a house where it was parked and arrested a 19-year-old suspect identified as Usman Umar.

According to him, a search of the premises led to the recovery of 603 packets of suspected Tramadol tablets, containing 60,300 pieces valued at ₦60.3 million, and 299 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules, consisting of 44,850 pieces valued at ₦22.4 million.

“This successful operation highlights the Command’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State. 

“The suspect is currently helping investigation to uncover the network behind this illegal trade and bring all culprits to justice,” Kiyawa said.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended residents for their vigilance and timely information, which made the breakthrough possible.

“The Command urges the public to continue providing credible information to the police, assuring them of prompt action and confidentiality. Together, we can build a safer and drug-free Kano State,” the statement added
