Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, under Operation Savannah Shield have recovered two improvised explosive devices, IEDs, along the Kaiama–Woro road in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this on Thursday via a post on X.

He noted that the recovery followed a response to credible intelligence on an IED-related incident in the area.

According to him, the troops, in collaboration with a Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, team, were mobilised to the scene at about 2:10 p.m. on March 24.

“During the operation, the team conducted a thorough scan of the area and discovered two IEDs about 300 metres from the site of a previous explosion,” the source said.

It further disclosed that the recovered explosives were successfully secured by the police EOD team without any casualties.
