Information minister hails Ibietan on re-election as APRA Secretary General

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has congratulated Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan on his re-election as Secretary General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), describing the development as a recognition of his professionalism, dedication and contributions to the public relations profession in Africa.

Dr. Ibietan was re-elected during the APRA General Assembly held in Swakopmund, Namibia, alongside Mr. Arik Karani of Kenya, who emerged President, and Professor Michele Mekeme of Cameroon, who was elected Vice President.

In a congratulatory message, the minister said Ibietan’s re-election reflected the confidence reposed in his leadership by public relations professionals across the continent.

“On behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, I congratulate Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan on his well-deserved re-election as Secretary General of APRA. This honour is not only a recognition of his professional excellence but also a source of pride for Nigeria and the entire communications community,” Idris said.

The minister expressed confidence that Ibietan would continue to provide purposeful leadership as APRA strengthens collaboration among communication professionals across Africa and advances the association’s vision.

He also commended APRA for its commitment to promoting ethical communication and strengthening the public relations profession across the continent.

Idris further noted that Nigeria looks forward to hosting the 37th APRA Annual Conference and the World Public Relations Forum in Abuja later this year.
