Infidelity allegations: Chike’s fans clash online after our report
By Benjamin Njoku
Our report last weekend on singer Chike’s alleged link to the ex-wife of media personality Frank Edoho has sparked a heated debate between male and female fans on social media.
The controversy began after Edoho publicly accused his ex-wife, Sandra, of having an affair with Chike. The claims dominated headlines in recent weeks, with Sandra facing widespread criticism over the alleged extramarital relationship.
As the story continues to unfold, readers have been divided over what it means for Chike’s career and future bookings. The key question emerging is whether married men and family-oriented event organizers will remain comfortable hiring him for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays and other private events.
Male fans have expressed disappointment, with some predicting a decline in his career. “What happened to Naira Marley will soon happen to the singer,” said Chijioke Okoli. Others argue that the allegation could strengthen his support base.
Lebros Efe wrote, “You can be sure the ladies will make his career even greater. He is their hero. Music is all about the numbers and these fans are now in the millions. All he has to do is craft music and lyrics that resonate with them.”
Shola Onigbogi Anand suggested that Chike was led into the situation and urged him to seek forgiveness. “The lady lured him, she slept with him probably to purify her body,” he wrote.
Elenyi Martins said Chike’s talent would keep his career intact but warned of cultural and spiritual consequences if the allegations are true. “Nothing negative will happen to his career. He’s a good musician. But if the story is true, he needs spiritual purification. It’s wrong to have sexual affairs with a married woman. African traditions condemn it,” he said.
Actress Nkechi Blessing dismissed talk of cancellation, while Diana Nyeche blamed Sandra for the situation.
Meanwhile, a viral video showed Chike being swarmed by female fans at a cinema, suggesting strong support despite the scandal.
Aliyu Omeiza, however, argued that married men may no longer hire Chike for events. “How many females financially sponsor his stage performance as a musician? Instead, men sponsor that. After this, will any married man still call him for any programme? If not, consider his career down forever,” he stated.
