Grant Nnamdi Kanu pardon – Group urges Tinubu govt

The Chairman Board of Trustees, Centre for Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Crusade (CHURAC), Alaowei Cleric Ebikonbowei, on Saturday said the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led Federal Government should grant Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Presidential Pardon.
Ebikonbowei made the call in a statement sent to Our Correspondent in Warri.
The legal practitioner said,”We can’t afford to entertain another set of insecurity in addition to what we are facing.”
“Our security system seemed overwhelmed by what is going on in the Northern part of the country.”
According to Ebikonbowei, granting pardon to Kanu will bring peace to the country, especially in the South East.
“Keeping Nnamdi Kanu in detention, while prescribing separatist movements won’t stop insecurity.
“The man is highly loved by his people and so presidential pardon is the best way out to avert insecurity.”
Ebikonbowei said Nnamdi Kanu is the architect of his travail, noting, “He had all the time to defend himself but sacked all his legal team, including learned Senior Advocates.
“He abused everybody even the court where he was standing trial. Who does that?
“I guess he can now believe in his lawyers and allow them to defend him at the appellate court? I won’t say much about the appeal process. Let his legal team appeal the judgement.”
