Police arrest 10 for killing man, abducting wife in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects in connection with the killing of Sufiyanu Garba and the abduction of his wife in Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman.
The incident occurred on March 13, 2026. Police said the abducted victim, Zainab Mohammad, has been rescued and reunited with her family following a coordinated operation by operatives of the State Intelligence Department and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
Those arrested include Zakariya Abubakar Diggi, Joseph Dahali Wanda, Sanda Alhaji, Mamman Abubakar Manu, Aisha Manu, Saudatu Abubakar, Abubakar Muhammad, Betuwa Muhammad, Abdullahi Umaru, and Ja’i Garba.
Preliminary investigations indicate that two of the suspects allegedly engaged in fraudulent SIM card registration, which was used by the kidnappers to negotiate ransom.
Police said other suspects are being investigated for their roles in the crime, while efforts are ongoing to arrest those still at large.
The command said the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
