Former Oyo Deputy Gov Moses Adeyemo elected APC State chairman by consensus

Moses Alake Adeyemo, a former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

His emergence as consensus chairman was ratified at the APC State Congress held yesterday at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan, following recommendations by the party’s Ad Hoc Zoning Committee.

The congress was attended by prominent party figures, including former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin; Florence Ajimobi, wife of the late former governor; Senator Ayo Adeseun; and Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, among others.

Adeyemo, from the Oke-Ogun axis and deputy governor under the late Abiola Ajimobi, formally assumed office, pledging to prioritise unity, inclusiveness, and grassroots mobilisation.

“I stand before you today humbled and deeply honoured as I accept the responsibility of serving as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State,” he said. “Our strength lies in our cohesion, and we must never lose sight of the fact that we are stronger together.”

He commended the party’s national leadership for supporting internal democracy and unity, and praised the Ad Hoc Zoning Committee, chaired by Alhaji Ibikunle with Mr. Afeez Bolaji Repete as secretary, for ensuring equitable representation across all 33 local government areas.

At the senatorial level, the executive includes Mrs. Oyebode Yetunde (Oyo North Women Leader), Mrs. Adefunke Adeoye (Oyo Central Women Leader), and Mrs. Mojibade Adetona (Oyo South Women Leader), with several Ex-Officio members rounding out the team.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Adeyemo pledged to build a transparent, accountable, and inclusive executive, strengthen party structures at the grassroots, and position APC for resounding victories.

“Together, we will nurture our grassroots, reposition our party, and meet the expectations of our members and the people we serve,” he said.
