Flood threat: Olubadan seeks govt intervention for Ibadan residents

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has declared that thousands of residents of the ancient city are being threatened by flooding, especially during the rainy season.

Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, made this declaration on Thursday, when he met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, in Abuja.

During the meeting, the monarch appealed to the Federal Government to help address the ecological problems his subjects experience, particularly during the rainy season.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST through his media aide, Adeola Oloko, Ladoja acknowledged previous interventions by the Federal Government.

However, he lamented that hundreds of residents of the ancient city are still battling the problem.

Ladoja further urged the Federal Government to resolve the issue without wasting more time.

He added that residents of areas such as Oranyan and Kudeti Agbongbon are being threatened by flooding.

The statement said: “He therefore requested the assistance of the Federal Government to help solve the ecological problems threatening the downtrodden people living around the Oranyan, Kudeti Agbongbon area and some other parts of the city that have not been in the spotlight through no fault of theirs.”
