FG’s 90-day cost of living plan is vote-buying – YPP presidential candidate
By John Alechenu
Abuja-The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, Architect Peter Agada, has described the Federal Government’s 90-day action plan to ease cost of living as vote-buying that will not work.

The plan was recently approved by the National Economic Council, NEC, and announced by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun.
Agada told Vanguard in Abuja on Saturday that the plan, like previous interventions by the APC-led administration, does not reflect economic reality and is destined to fail.
He said his #LabourDirect ward-to-ward development strategy remains the alternative, with capacity to empower Nigerians with N40 million monthly per ward.
“LabourDirect can capture all Nigerians within 60 days of implementation. We said 60 days; about 20 days are gone before the elections,” he said.
“If they approach me to implement it, Nigerians will have more confidence that they have called one of the candidates to help.”
Agada said government should call people who can fix the micro-economy before January 16, not just roll out macro-economic promises.
The YPP candidate proposed a dashboard powered by the Labour Direct Information Network, LIN System, to monitor projects, employment, production, tax and revenues from a single application.
He recalled that similar measures announced two weeks ago, including subsidy interventions, have shown no results.
Agada said, “I align with those who said the economic team has failed. I have listened to many analysts on TV and radio, none spoke positively about the team. They have lost their bearings.”
He cited past unfulfilled pledges from 2023, including N75 billion for manufacturing, N75 billion for micro SMEs, N50 billion conditional grants, grain distribution, N200 billion to cultivate 500 hectares, N50 billion each for rice farmers and N100 billion for CNG.
According to him, after those announcements, government removed tariffs on food imports, which did not crash food prices.
He said, “If you are fighting food inflation, return food prices to where they were before you took office.
“There are 85 days to the election and you are announcing a 90-day timeline. After election what happens? These guys are playing mind games.”
He urged Nigerians to demand month-by-month job creation data, saying without that, the 90-day plan is just campaign strategy ahead of 2027.
