Ex-Kano APC guber candidate joins ADC, pledges loyalty to Kwankwaso

The 2023 gubernatorial flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has formally joined the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the state.
With the development, Gawuna has pitched his tent with the former Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who also registered his membership with the ADC on Monday.
Gawuna, who doubles as the former deputy governor to Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, had announced his resignation from the ruling party, All Progressive Congress, APC, in a letter addressed to the APC chairman in Gawuna Ward, Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
Ganduje’s anointed candidate in 2023, in the letter, said his decision to leave the party was “voluntary and personal.”
However, Gawuna was accompanied by Kwankwaso and hundreds of supporters to register ADC members in his ward in the Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during the event, Gawuna pledged loyalty to the strongman of Kano politics, Kwankwaso, and said he would not betray him, as he had always accorded him respect.
He added that wearing a red cap doesn’t dignify loyalty.
On his part, Kwankwaso cautioned persons with a motive to rig the elections to have a rethink, as the government will not condone any form of electoral malpractice.
He said every ADC member in the state was assigned the responsibility of a mobilization agent to mobilize others to go and register their membership with the party and obtain their voter’s card to participate in the election process.
