Anambra Patriots says no party’s growing popularity unsettles group

…Honours Soludo’s appointees, lauds merit-based leadership

NNEWI — The Anambra Patriots, a good governance and accountability group, says it is not unsettled by the growing popularity of any political party, maintaining that it has the capacity to mobilise support for candidates its members endorse.

The group said it does not align with any political party but evaluates aspirants seeking elective office and encourages its members to support candidates it considers most qualified.

Chairman of Anambra Patriots and President of the Anambra Country Club, Chief Ejiamatu Damian Enekwechi, stated this while speaking with journalists during a reception organised to honour members recently appointed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo into key positions in the Anambra State Government.

Enekwechi said the group, with members across the 21 local government areas of the state, would support candidates it believes would serve the interests of Anambra and Nigeria in the 2027 general election.

He described Anambra Patriots as a body of accomplished professionals committed to the development of Anambra State and the country.

Those honoured at the event in Awka included the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Architect Okechukwu Ezeobi; the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata; and Enekwechi, who was recently elected President of the Anambra Country Club.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Sir Ben Emeka (Okebo II), described the appointments as recognition of competence, integrity and dedicated service.

He said the event was organised to celebrate members who distinguished themselves and earned appointments into Governor Soludo’s administration through merit and outstanding service.

“We commend Governor Soludo for recognising the wealth of talent within Anambra Patriots. Hard work, competence and commitment to service will always attract recognition. We urge the honourees to remain focused and continue setting high standards of excellence in public service,” he said.

The honourees received symbolic gifts, including acrylic portrait frames, from the Anambra Patriots Coordinators Forum, which described their appointments as well-deserved recognition of competence and exceptional performance in previous public assignments.

Responding on behalf of the honourees, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Architect Okechukwu Ezeobi, expressed gratitude to God for his journey in public service.

He attributed his rise to perseverance, hard work and divine grace, while thanking Governor Soludo for the confidence reposed in him.

Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT Agency, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to expanding the use of technology to improve governance and public service delivery across the state.

The honourees thanked members of Anambra Patriots for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting the Soludo administration through transparent, accountable and impactful service.

They also promised to contribute to the state’s development in areas including digital transformation, ICT, infrastructure, leisure, recreation and professional networking.
