All set for Soludo’s second-term inauguration in Awka

AWKA — Preparations are complete for the swearing-in of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, for their second term on Tuesday.

Key areas of Awka, the state capital, have been decorated and major roads repainted in anticipation of the event at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square. Dignitaries from the presidency and other states are expected to attend the ceremony.

The governor and his deputy marked the end of their first tenure with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, Awka on Sunday. During the service, Soludo thanked God and the people of the state for their support and reiterated his commitment to delivering tangible development and democratic enhancements during the second term.

He pledged to work inclusively with all residents of Anambra State, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation, emphasizing that diverse perspectives will be central to the state’s progress and prosperity.

Ahead of the inauguration, a closed-door security meeting was held at the state Police Command headquarters in Awka on Sunday, involving tactical commanders, joint security team leaders, and senior officers involved in operational planning for the event.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the meeting reviewed and fine-tuned operational strategies outlined in the Police Operation Order to ensure full security coverage before, during, and after the ceremony.

Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu urged officers to maintain maximum vigilance, enhance inter-agency coordination, and ensure a peaceful environment for residents, dignitaries, and visitors.

The ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is also mobilizing its members from all 326 political wards in the state to attend the inauguration.
