AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Super Eagles to know group opponents May 19
Nigeria’s Super Eagles will discover their group opponents for the qualifiers of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, May 19.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that 48 countries, including co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, will participate in the qualifiers.
According to CAF, the teams will be drawn into 12 groups of four, with the top two sides from each group advancing to the final tournament.
The opening match of the competition is scheduled for Saturday, June 19, 2027, while the final will take place on Saturday, July 17, 2027.
CAF has yet to announce the host venues for both the opening match and the final.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are expected to head into the qualifiers following a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco.
