World Cup: ‘It’s a shame for Deschamps’ – Mbappe speaks after England beat France

France captain, Kylian Mbappe, has insisted that it’s a shame for coach, Didier Deschamps following Les Bleus’ 6-4 defeat to England in the World Cup third-place final on Saturday.

According to Mbappe, he and his teammates wanted to thank Deschamps for what he has done with the French national football team by beating England, but they failed to do so.

The Real Madrid forward spoke to French broadcaster M6 after the match.

“We didn’t win, and that is a shame for the coach. We wanted to do something for him, and the first half gave the impression that we let him down, even if that wasn’t the feeling we intended,” Mbappe said.

“But we want to thank him for everything he’s done. This match won’t tarnish Didier Deschamps’ legend,” he said.

Deschamps will part ways with the Les Bleus after the World Cup.

The game against England was his last match in charge of the team, and former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane is expected to replace him.
